I completed The Sorcerer’s Wife yesterday. Well, the first draft. I’m pretty happy with it. Sam Madigan, the main character, was actually destined for a novel (entitled Bullet Holes). It too is an urban fantasy, based on poor Sam Madigan getting caught up in a plot with Judas, the first vampire. The setting is urban fantasy, on the darker side, with Sam and a few others aware of the Truth of reality.
I’m going to begin my second short story (need one a month). I’m going back to Nathaniel for this one. It’ll be before the novel and will somehow involve Amber (he meets her in the first chapter of the novel) and Bartimus Glenn (as of yet, an unused villian).
It’ll start something like this:
The guy had no hands and no face; my job was about to get a whole lot more difficult.
What are you doing with the short stories once they’re done?
My short stories, once edited, will be on this site. But my main goal will be to market them to the big magazines first, followed down the chain as the rejections begin to flow (oh, and I know all about rejections).
Don’t worry, for the non-readers, I’ll be presenting them in serialized Maxim magazine format to make them more palatable, complete with semi-naked women and UFC highlights. My site will be called ufc.com.
